Lorena Rivas founded the Rivas Family Foundation from a place that is deeply personal.
Before she was an attorney, a law firm owner, or a community leader, she was a sister. Her brother, Adrian, lives with special needs, and growing up alongside him profoundly shaped how she understands dignity, access, and opportunity. She witnessed firsthand the resilience required of families navigating systems that often overlook those who deserve support the most.
At the same time, Lorena was growing up as a first-generation Mexican American. She learned early what it meant to bridge cultures, advocate in unfamiliar spaces, and help her family navigate complex institutions. Those experiences instilled in her both pride in her heritage and a deep awareness of how many families move through life without equitable access to resources or guidance.
Through her legal career serving immigrant families across Oklahoma, Lorena saw these realities repeated again and again - hardworking families striving to build stability and opportunity while facing structural barriers.
The Rivas Family Foundation was created at the intersection of those lived experiences.
The Foundation invests in initiatives that empower Latino communities, support individuals with disabilities, and strengthen families regardless of immigration status, income level, or economic background. Its focus is practical and lasting impact: education, leadership development, accessibility, and meaningful pathways to thrive.
Lorena believes sustainable change happens when communities are respected, resourced, and led by people who understand their lived experience. The Foundation reflects that belief and her commitment to ensuring that families like hers do not have to navigate their journeys alone.
